About us

We  want to create a New Nigeria

where books trend, knowledge

rules and intelligence is

celebrated.

The Obvious Challenge

Over the years, interest in books and literary endeavours have been on a steady decline among Nigerian youth. If our current reading culture index is benchmarked against the age-old sayings on the importance of reading and acquisition of knowledge such as “knowledge is power”, “readers are leaders” and “reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”, it appears we are on a free fall to the eventual collapse of everything we hold dear as a nation.

This free fall is beyond a mere fear of the future; worse than that, it is the death of a nation and we need to salvage ours NOW! Judging by the quality of our university graduates, high school certificate holders and even children in our elementary schools, we see that in the not too distant future, books will be an anathema to our people and reading a burdening indulgence to even our educated class. In other words, as a nation, we will look at mediocrity and call it excellence.

This is the exact problem that the Literary Renaissance Foundation seeks to remedy.

The Literary Renaissance Foundation
is an advocacy campaign
with the following ideals:

VISION:

  • To create a New Nigeria where books trend,
knowledge rules and intelligence is celebrated.

MISSION:

  • To Ignite Reading Culture in Nigeria one person per time

STRATEGIC GOALS:

  • To be the catalysts for the emergence of a new generation of thought-leaders and influencers in Nigeria, and Africa, who love books and learning, and who will eventually step up to leadership positions across all sectors.
  • To engender a thirst for knowledge and a passion for excellence amongst Nigerians.
  • To be the catalysts that promote reading culture in Nigeria and make reading a desirable pastime among the people.
  • To launch a nationwide campaign against the devaluation of intelligence.
  • To provide learning resources and advisory services to academic institutions across all levels in the country.
  • To make intelligence ‘cool’ and attractive by hyping the benefits of an informed mind.
  • To encourage people without a formal education to develop a habit of reading so they can enrich their lives.
  • To showcase local content and encourage the art of writing and creative outputs.
